Page Rank is the new Black…

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Page Rank doesn’t matterI can’t even get Google on the phone, so I thought I would just address the whole Page Rank crisis here, so maybe y’all will stop calling my boyfriend!

Does Page Rank really matter? Some would say yes, others disagree.

Consider for a moment that Page Rank is like an Armani suit.  (I’m a girl..I can’t help it) Although,  nice to have and impressive to your cohorts..it’s not really necessary to perform your duties as a corporate drone…right? Page Rank is just that…an emblem of status. Sites with a PR of 2 can still outrank sites with a PR6, depending on traffic and backlinks.  Page Rank is more of  a qualifier. Like the Armani suit, a site with a PR 6, will likely garner more attention and respect, whether it deserves it or not is the question that traffic statistics will answer.

Bottom Line:  Traffic matters, Page Rank Doesn’t.

Google…call me! Muah…I forgive you.

Google - Back in Black

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Google and I are still fighting. So when he showed up at my door yesterday I was excited, figuring he was coming to apologize and beg for forgiveness..and maybe even bring flowers. WRONG! Google was dressed in black. Which was weird, and when I asked him about it.. this is what I got:

Google users in the San Francisco Bay Area will notice today that we “turned the lights out” on the Google.com homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a citywide energy conservation event called Lights Out San Francisco.

On Saturday, October 20, 2007, Lights Out San Francisco invites the entire city of San Francisco to install one compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) and turn off all lights for one hour, from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm PDT. According to estimates, turning the lights out in San Francisco for even one hour could save as much as 15 percent of the energy consumed on an average Saturday night.

Given our company’s commitment to environmental awareness and energy efficiency, we strongly support the Lights Out campaign, and have darkened our homepage today to help spread awareness of what we hope will be a highly successful citywide event.

This is just getting ridiculous, if he doesn’t make this up to me…I might just ‘turn the lights off’ on our relationship too!

Google's Girl
When I tell people that I’m dating Google, they almost always give me that nervous chuckle, like I’m joking or something. And immediately, I think to myself, “What? Am I not pretty or smart enough for Google?”
Then their look is almost always accompanied by, “Oh you mean you are dating Matt Cutts, the Google engineer.?” And then it’s my turn to chuckle, because I know I’m WAYYYYY to pretty for him. Duh!
Why is it soo hard for people to understand that Google is MY boyfriend. Big deal.
